Job Summary :
The Medical Scribe will work closely with physicians and healthcare providers in an outpatient primary care clinic, assisting with documentation of patient visits in real time.
The scribe's primary role is to ensure efficient and accurate recording of clinical information, enabling the provider to focus on direct patient care.
Key Responsibilities :
- Documentation Support : Accurately document patient encounters, including medical histories, physical exams, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions during office visits.
- Charting : Enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system under the direction of the physician or provider.
- Real-time Transcription : Transcribe physician notes and medical orders into the EHR as dictated by the provider during patient interactions.
- Follow-up Coordination : Assist in the preparation of any required documentation for follow-up visits, referrals, and lab orders.
- Patient Interaction : Provide support during patient exams by gathering and documenting relevant clinical data such as vitals and reviewing the patient's medical history.
- Compliance : Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring patient information confidentiality and accuracy.
- Clerical Assistance : Assist the physician or provider with clerical tasks such as preparing charts, managing the workflow of documentation, and organizing patient records.
Qualifications :
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; medical transcription or medical assistant training preferred.
- Experience : Prior experience as a medical scribe or in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Skills :
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficient in typing and computer usage, particularly with EHR systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
