Executive Director Job Description

OnPath Foundation seeks an experienced and visionary Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight.

The Executive Director will spearhead the organization’s mission-driven efforts, ensuring effective program delivery, sustainable growth, and impactful community engagement.

The Executive Director will :

  • Manage and develop fundraising strategies and budgets to meet targeted objectives and philanthropic goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high standards of governance.
  • Support the Board of Directors by providing timely and accurate information for decision-making.
  • Enhance donor relations and stewardship through personalized communication and engagement strategies.
  • Leverage data and analytics to measure program effectiveness and guide decision-making.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profits, and community leaders.
  • Enhance foundation brand awareness through innovative marketing tactics.
  • Recruit, train, and manage staff and volunteers to foster a high-performance team for events and other operational activities.
  • Advocate for the foundation’s cause through public speaking, media appearances, and community involvement.
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and grant applications to diversify revenue streams.
  • Ensure transparent reporting and accountability in all financial and operational activities.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the foundation and the credit union.
  • Monitor local and national industry trends and emerging issues to proactively address challenges and capitalize on opportunities.

Qualifications :

  • College degree in business administration, nonprofit management, public administration, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising with a record of successful leadership and organizational growth.
  • Banking experience preferred, but not required.
  • Proven grant writing experience with a history of securing substantial funding from various sources, including foundations, government agencies, and corporate sponsors.
  • Strong understanding of issues related to community development, education, home ownership, and entrepreneurship.
  • An unwavering passion for social impact and commitment to advancing opportunity and equity.
  • Ability to think strategically with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • A collaborative and inclusive leadership style that fosters teamwork and innovation.
  • Resilience and adaptability and capable of navigating challenges and driving change.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to fundraise effectively and manage financial resources responsibly.

Interpersonal Skills :

Relationships with external contacts are vital, not only for the success of the position but the success of the company overall.

Work involves extensive personal contact with members of the Board of Directors, community leaders, business leaders, and internal managers.

Motivating others or getting them to do things that they might not do otherwise is key to success for incumbents in this position.

ADA Requirements

Physical Requirements : Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.

Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.

Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel on-site whenever required or requested by management.

Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Working Conditions : Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental and / or Emotional Requirements : Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.

Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.

Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.

Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and / or fast pace.

Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
