About The Position
Job Title : Sign Shop Laborer Job Specialty : Staff Augmentation Job Duration : Up to 52 weeks Shift : Day - 5x8 - 6am - 2pm, 40 Hours Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : Minimum 3 months training or experience in sheet metal work, operation of related equipment, sign production, and industrial safety practices License : Not specified Certifications : Not specified Must-Have : Formal education in arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, ruler reading, and percentages Job Description : Perform all activities related to the fabrication, production, and distribution of highway signs.
- Produce sign blanks from aluminum or salvaged materials. - Utilize computer systems for various operations. - Engage in reclamation activities, reflective sheeting application, and fabrication of extruded signs.
- Conduct silk screen activities and layout tasks.- Operate equipment required for sign production. - Use machines such as shearing tools, punch press, squeeze roll applicators, and various saws.
- Operate manual and automatic silk screen equipment, drill press, and overhead crane. - Utilize appropriate safety equipment, including respirators, masks, and gloves, ensuring compliance with safety practices.
- Manage order and priority of sign requests. - Handle special projects like banners, decals, and signage for different agencies.
- Maintain and clean the shop area. - Conduct inventory control of materials used in sign production. - Sweep, clean, and ensure the shop area is well maintained.
- Possess skills and characteristics required for the job. - Knowledgeable in industrial safety practices related to sign fabrication.
- Skilled in silk screen printing processes and sheet metal work. - Capable of reading and understanding blueprints. - Demonstrates dexterity and the ability to use hands skillfully.
- Maintains accurate records throughout processes.
