Position Description

Accounting

  • Review of the financial statement packages
  • Review month-end reconciliations to support the monthly close process, such as Bank reconciliation, WIP reconciliation and deferred revenue
  • Review month-end close procedures
  • Review of the quarterly and year-end closing calendars
  • Implementation of new accounting pronouncements
  • Perform technical accounting research to identify proper accounting treatment and support current policies
  • Roll out internal controls to recently acquired subsidiaries.

Strategic Support

  • Support NA audit engagement with external auditors
  • Support compliance with financial or SOX audits
  • Assist in the implementation of internal controls and process improvement.
  • Identify and implement process improvements as they arise to improve efficiency and compliance
  • Review supporting schedules provided by various internal groups
  • Assist in operational needs such as reviewing and approving contracts and sales orders.
  • Support ongoing local and global process improvement and projects

Integration and acquisition support

  • Assist in due diligence of potential acquisitions, including PPA and accounting memos
  • Lead the integration of acquired companies
  • Participate in preparation of Purchase accounting memos & related accounting treatments of acquired entities
  • Align acquired entity accounting systems with US GAAP and QIAGEN existing practices
  • Manage acquired entities accounting reports

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • 5 years "Big Four" audit experience
  • Supervisory experience and experience with companies that have multiple entities
  • Preferred some experience with SAP or other large ERP systems
  • Office attendance required (min. 3 days per week)

  • Problem solver who can work independently and demonstrate strong organizational skills and self-management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create relationships in the organization with very good communication skills also in an international environment
  • Open-minded and flexible in thought and action
  • Person could expect up to 10% travel while integrating a subsidiary
