National Logistics Director, Chemical Transportation

No Remote Seeking an innovative National Logistics & Transportation Director to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive fleet management strategy for a rapidly growing industrial wastewater and chemical processing services provider having multiple treatment facilities located throughout the US.
Using advanced data analytics and logistics modeling software, you will incorporate industry best practices to create new SOPs and KPIs as part of improving safety, maximizing mobile asset utilization, and reducing total cost of operations.
Essential Job Functions include :
- Lead a team of local / regional Fleet Managers in collaborating with local Operations and Executive Leadership team to document current site-specific practices for in-house fleet of bulk tanker truck pickup, handling, and delivery practices, then input data into logistics modeling software.
- Utilizing advanced data analytics and data visualization tools, conduct simulation analyses of transportation routes, standard operating costs, and overall performance data.
- Identify improvement opportunities as a result of data analyses, market intelligence, and knowledge of industry best practices.
- Identify gaps which could have risk and financial impact to the organization or lead to missing commitments.
- Build business cases to support improvement projects, including identification of the resources required to successfully execute improvement projects.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma processes and techniques to identify and remove waste, variability, and excess lead time.
- Lead continuous improvement meetings with cross-functional project teams.
- Lead efforts to implement ongoing process management mechanisms (process mapping, documentation, metrics, monitoring systems and process control techniques).
- Organize relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop a process for regular reporting of metrics to Executive Leadership team.
- Support the establishment and communication of the Lean philosophy, leadership culture and needed behavior changes.
Qualifications include :
- BS / BA in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, Operations, Statistics, or Mathematics preferred.
- MBA / MS is a plus with work experience in Transportation Management of a large regional or national fleet highly desired.
- Professional certifications such as : Six Sigma Green / Black Belt, APICS CSCP, CLTD, CPIM, CSCMP SCPRO, CTL, CTP, or related credentials.
- 5+ years of experience in Logistics Program Management, Chemical Distribution, or Transportation.
- Consulting experience using supply chain planning / forecasting and data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Llamasoft Supply Chain Guru, BPI, JDA, etc. is a plus.
- Understands functional processes and can navigate systems to extract needed data
- Practical experience as a Project Manager leading Lean / Six Sigma continuous improvement projects.
- Ability to think through a process and validate before reviewing with stakeholders.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with all levels of the organization, influence leaders to change / adopt change, building trust and credibility quickly.
- Creative innovative thinker with demonstrated business intuition.
- Advanced data mining and data analysis skills with expertise using MS Excel pivot tables, macros, index / match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.
- Highly organized, detail oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
