Construction Estimator - Architectural Metals & Glass Fabrication - Base Salary to 100k / year - Middle Village, NY

Established in 1989, our client serves as a comprehensive provider of architectural metals and glass solutions. Their expertise spans enclosures, ornamental metals, architectural specialties, mechanical components, and metal art, facilitating fabrication and installation in diverse settings including commercial buildings, stadiums, and airports throughout New York City.

Equipped with internal design, project management, and estimating teams, they are prepared for projects of any complexity.

The Construction Estimator plays a pivotal role within the local team based in Middle Village, NY. This position entails full-time office work, five days a week.

The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in interpreting architectural and structural drawings, tasked with estimating projects ranging from $20,000 to $20 million.

Responsibilities :

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and associated documents to grasp the scope of work.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs to calculate project costs, including materials, fabrication, and installation.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to align costs with contractual requirements.
  • Supervise junior estimators to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and project walk-throughs.
  • Prepare post-award job binders for the project management and detailing teams.
  • Aid in the procurement phase to ensure subcontractor bids are properly managed.
  • Maintain precise and well-organized estimates.
  • Monitor changes throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications :

  • 5+ years’ of experience as a Construction Estimator
  • Prior experience in metal and glass fabrication is highly preferred for this position.
  • Proficiency in interpreting architectural and structural drawings is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend blueprints, contract documents, and specifications is required.
  • Experience in self-performing trade estimating, including analyzing crew sizes and material requirements, comparing pricing against historical data, and understanding union trade wage hour restrictions.
  • Collaboration with internal team members for insights and expertise.
  • Proven track record of soliciting proposals from vendors.
  • Competence in performing take-offs.
  • Ideally, the candidate will possess a strong architectural background.
  • Availability to work in-office five days a week.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu or similar estimating software is preferred.

Compensation :

  • Base salary in the 75k - 100k / year range
