Reports to Maintenance Supervisor. The maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to Safety, GMP and Preventive Maintenance Systems and Processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate effectively with teammates and other personnel through two-way verbal communication (speech and hearing).
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
- Knowledge and use of basic office equipment as well as computer programs and software.
- Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
- This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.
- Manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to learn and repair packaging related equipment, mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems and general building repairs.
- Have a working knowledge of Distribution Center building codes.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a warehouse environment and in outside yard operations.
- Ability to safely operate various power equipment including packaging machines, fork lift, pallet jack, high reach order picker, and scissor lift.
- Ability to work from heights.
- Lift, push and / or move items up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Perform highly diversified duties to install, repair and maintain production machines and plant facility’s equipment.
- Provide emergency / unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders as well as follow sketches and diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, repair or replace parts, test and make necessary adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities according to schedule.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Use and maintain accountability for a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to the proper supervisor.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
EDUCATION :
Prefer candidates with 2-year technical degree (or other formal technical training) in maintenance related field or with a minimum of 3 years experience in an industrial maintenance department.
EXPERIENCE :
Must be able to use all basic hand tools.
Must have basic electrical knowledge.
Candidates must have basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
