Description :
The Licensed Respiratory Therapist assesses, implements, and evaluates the delivery of respiratory care services.
Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating patient status in accordance with standards and policies.
The therapist performs medication administration via nebulizer or metered dose inhaler, humidity and aerosol therapy.
They are responsible for medical gas administration, incentive spirometry, respiratory mechanics, PEP therapy, pulse oximetry, and chest physiotherapy.
The role involves CPR, mechanical ventilation, intubation, extubating, suctioning, and assisting with bronchoscopy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Attention to detail is required for the examination of clinical and numerical data.
Basic computer skills are necessary for entering data and documentation.
The therapist delivers care and interventions to patients in non-critical care areas while considering age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
They perform computer entry, verify physician orders, and document clinical information accurately.
Care is provided effectively in critical care areas.
Mechanical ventilation is administered, both invasive and non-invasive, while monitoring patient parameters.
Responsibilities include ventilator maintenance, setting changes, and monitoring responses.
Effective communication with the healthcare team is crucial.
The therapist demonstrates professional judgment in response to changing situations.
Tasks may be delegated and supervised appropriately.
Respect for patients' rights is acknowledged and demonstrated.
The therapist establishes effective relationships with patients, families, and medical staff, utilizing positive service skills.
They maintain ongoing communication with the department.
Support for departmental and hospital goals is required, including attending in-services and completing variance reports.
Skills must be organized, prioritized, and appropriate for the patient population.
Anticipating patient and departmental needs is vital.

Participation in mentoring new personnel is encouraged.
