About the Role :

As a Medical Technologist at Palo Pinto General Hospital, you will play a critical role in the accurate analysis and interpretation of laboratory specimens to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Your expertise will ensure the reliability and precision of test results, directly impacting clinical decisions and patient outcomes. You will operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, adhering to strict quality control and safety protocols. Collaboration with healthcare professionals to communicate findings and assist in complex diagnostic challenges will be a key aspect of your role. Ultimately, your work will contribute to the hospital’s mission of delivering exceptional healthcare through timely and accurate laboratory services.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field May accept technical training equivalent to a four year program with associated licensure.
  • Current Certification as a Medical Technologist (e.g., ASCP, AMT)
  • Experience with clinical laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications :

  • BLS certification
  • Advanced certification or specialization in areas such as microbiology, hematology, or molecular diagnostics.
  • Experience working in a hospital laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Continuing education or training in emerging laboratory technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-focused service.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids using automated and manual techniques.
  • Obtains specimens from patients when necessary.
  • Ensure quality control by calibrating instruments, validating test results, and maintaining accurate records of procedures and outcomes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues with laboratory equipment to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to provide timely and accurate laboratory data for patient care decisions.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies related to laboratory safety, documentation, and confidentiality.
  • OSHA Category Position :

  • OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
  • Skills :

    The required skills enable the Medical Technologist to accurately perform and interpret complex laboratory tests, ensuring high-quality patient care. Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting laboratory instruments is essential for maintaining efficient workflow and minimizing errors. Knowledge of safety and quality control protocols ensures compliance with regulatory standards and protects both staff and patients. Preferred skills such as familiarity with laboratory information systems enhance data management and reporting accuracy. Effective communication skills facilitate collaboration with clinical teams, supporting integrated healthcare delivery and continuous improvement in laboratory services.

    This position will be rotating days and nights as needed.

    PRN-.01 Position is hourly and is eligible for overtime and shift differentials , as applicable.
