Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in a Level I trauma center, requiring an active IL license and strong adult and pediatric ER skills.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital56-bed Emergency Department with an average daily census of 175Level I trauma center environment and Magnet facilityAdult and pediatric patient population with combined case responsibilitiesWork schedule is 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts (1900–0730), with every other weekend requiredNo on-call requirementsCerner EMR used; Cerner experience requiredResponsible for comprehensive emergency care for patients of all ages, including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, psychiatric, orthopedic, pediatric, and medical emergenciesNo floating required outside the emergency departmentMust work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contractFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyScrubs may be any solid colorFree parking is available with permit, completed during orientationMust be a former permanent or PRN employee away for at least 12 months before applyingMaximum of 5 days of requested time off will be auto-approved; additional time off requires approvalRequirements
Active Illinois RN license required or application in processMinimum of 2 years of emergency nursing experience requiredCertifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)Experience required with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, management of multisystem organ dysfunction / failure, 12-lead EKG, IV therapy including phlebotomy and starting IVs, blood product administration, procedural and continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and administration of emergency medicationsPediatric emergency experience including management of abuse, respiratory and abdominal emergencies, trauma, and poison ingestionPsychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, overdose, violent behavior management, and suicidal patientsRespiratory emergency procedures including chest tube insertion / management and intubationOrthopedic emergencies including splint managementNeurological emergencies including CVA, spinal cord injuries, and TBIMust have experience with triage and isolation precautionsCerner EMR charting experience requiredBenefits
