ROLE of the POSITION
The Assistant Director of Admissions Systems and Applicant Operations at the Kerkorian School of Medicine is an advanced managerial role that requires experienced and effective supervision and execution of all admissions application platforms, processes, file / records / data processing / handling, and application policies, while overseeing a processing staff and delivering applicant communications / customer service.
This position reports to and collaborates closely with the Assistant Dean for Admissions, Recruitment and Student Financial Services.
This critical role will be responsible for managing and optimizing medical school admissions systems and applicant operations to ensure a smooth, accurate, sound, and efficient admissions process each cycle.
The school of medicine can see up to 2,000 AMCAS applications annually and over 800 secondary applications. This role will also be critical as the application pool expands for the doctorate in medicine and other new programs of study or training.
This role will hold high-level independent status to also assess / score components of the application in preparation for the Assistant Dean to perform interview selection and for the admissions committee to have accurate, organized, and vetted files per school and national standards.
The Assistant Director will be responsible for performing campus processes to change admitted applicants into matriculating students at UNLV and will need to establish records in campus systems along with other technical onboarding tasks.
The role will subsequently also close cycles and then align systems, data exchange agreements, and import requirements for subsequent cycles.
This position will also need to provide required data to units upon request and for various decision making or system improvements.
- This position must have high-level independent judgment and decision making skills; excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- knowledge of medical education admissions including AAMC and LCME rules of operation is preferred; experience with third-party application databases or CAS systems;
- the ability to mine data and keep historical data for national reporting; an understanding of degree / course transcripts;
- top-notch customer service skills; an ability to work autonomously with problem solving skills that not only support applicants and the department, but also prevent issues before they occur;
and a professionalism to collaborate with internal and external entities that are local and regional. They must understand confidentiality, holistic review, integrity of a process as competitive as medical school, and the mission as set forth by the school and the admissions committee.
The Assistant Director is critical in helping to set the tone of customer service to internal and external entities, create relationships with service units and vendors, and be a collaborator for the ongoing growing brand and messaging from the Office of Admissions at the Kerkorian School of Medicine to those in a current AMCAS or school-based specialty application cycle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and / or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 5-7 years or related experience, 1-3 years of supervisory experience, and 1-3 years management experience.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

SALARY RANGE
The salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions, with a minimum starting salary $75,000 for this position.
