As a Nurse Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner you will take a leadership role in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education programs and projects for patients, personnel and community.

As a Nurse Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner you will provide overall outputs the practices of learning, change, professional role competence and growth, which supports the optimal patient care, population health, and protection of the public within a unit / department, inter-departmental, or house-wide level in select cases.

As a learning facilitator, you will create a process to bridge the knowledge, skills, and / or practice gaps identified through needs assessment.

As a change agent, you will transform processes at micro and ecosystem levels through encouragement, initiation, adoption, and sustainment of and adaptation to change using project management and improvement processes.

As a mentor to clinical nurses and other inter-professionals, you will advance the profession by contributing to the professional development of others and supporting life-long learning as individuals develop across practice, professional and educational settings.

As a leader, you will influence the interprofessional practice and learning environments, the NPD specialty, the profession of nursing, and healthcare.

NPD practitioners are champions for scientific inquiry, promoting the generation and dissemination of new knowledge and the use of evidence to advance NPD practice, guide clinical practice, and improve patient care.

NPD practitioners are advocates for NPD specialty actively supporting, promoting, and demonstrating nursing professional development as a nursing practice specialty.

Additionally, the NPD practitioner is a partner for practice transitions, supporting the transition of nurses and other healthcare team members across learning and practice environments, roles, and professional stages.

Educational Requirements :

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

License / Certification Requirements :

• Valid California Registered Nurse license.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• National Specialty certification.

Experience :

• Minimum of 3 years acute care RN clinical experience required; PACU PreOp experience preferred.
• Experience teaching while communicating effectively in English (written and verbal communication) with persons of various cultural and educational backgrounds.
• Experienced in data management. Excellent organizational skills; effectively coordinate all aspects of education course design and implementation.
• Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area.
