Overview
Director, Thought Leadership & Messaging – Slack (Salesforce). The role sits within the Product Marketing team and is responsible for shaping Slack's narrative, driving strategic messaging, and establishing Slack as a leader in the future of work through thought leadership, category creation, and analyst engagement.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and execute Slack's thought leadership strategy aligned with product roadmap, business objectives, and market trends.
- Identify industry trends, customer pain points, and competitive dynamics to inform the thought leadership agenda.
- Create Slack’s POV and position Slack as a leader in the future of work, enterprise collaboration, and AI in the workplace.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and amplification of key messages.
- Translate Slack capabilities into clear narratives for customers, analysts, media, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop core messaging frameworks, value propositions, and proof points that differentiate Slack.
- Ensure consistent messaging across external and internal communications channels.
- Oversee thought leadership content development (whitepapers, research reports, executive presentations, blog posts, articles, webinars, etc.).
- Lead Slack’s digital content efforts and collaborate with PMM, sales, and external agencies to educate, inspire, and persuade.
- Collaborate with internal SMEs and PMM teams to produce high-impact content and measure effectiveness against performance data.
- Work with Analyst Relations to build relationships with key analysts and drive category creation and positioning.
- Develop analyst-facing narratives, briefings, and presentations that articulate Slack’s vision for the future of enterprise communication and collaboration.
- Leverage analyst insights to refine messaging and identify new thought leadership opportunities.
What You’ll Bring
8+ years of experience in product marketing, content strategy, or related field within a B2B SaaS environment, with senior leadership or thought leadership focus.Proven track record in category creation / definition or influencing market perception through strategic messaging and analyst engagement.Strong ability to translate complex products into compelling business value propositions.Expertise in content strategy and development across multiple formats; ability to plan, execute, and measure impact.Experience working with industry analysts; ability to build relationships and influence research and reports.Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to articulate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.Strategic thinking with analytical capabilities to synthesize market data and insights into actionable strategies.Executive presence and strong presentation skills; comfortable engaging with senior leaders.Self-starter with collaborative work style; thrives in fast-paced environments and can manage multiple projects.Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; MBA preferred.Additional Information
