Position : Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician (Full-time)

Texas Humane Heroes (TXHH) is a private, non-profit organization that offers dog and cat adoptions, as well as provides low cost veterinary services for the public and local animal rescue organizations.
TXHH is a dynamic, growth-oriented organization located at 10930 E. Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, Texas.
Position Overview :
The Texas Humane Heroes Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician will understand and be able to communicate Texas Humane Heroes mission, vision and goals.
As a Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician, you will play a crucial role in the health and well-being of animals in providing post-operative care and monitoring to animals recovering from spay / neuter surgery.
You will provide high-quality medical care, assist with surgical procedures and support the overall operations of our adoption center and low-cost veterinary clinic.
Organizational Structure :
Spay / Neuter Recovery Technician reports to the Director of Medical Services.
Key Position Responsibilities :
- Monitor animals recovering from surgical procedures to ensure their safety, well-being and comfort,
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Providing post-operative care and monitoring vital signs.
- Assist in the handling and restraint of animals during the recovery process.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene in the recovery area and overall clinic.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the general public.
- Provide medical care to dogs and cats, including administering medications, vaccinations and treatments.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
- Provide compassionate care and handling of animals with various temperaments.
- Assist with other clinic duties as needed.
Qualifications :
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician, preferably in a shelter or adoption center setting.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures and terminology.
- Excellent animal handling skills and a genuine love for animals.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the general public.
- Proficiency in using veterinary software for record-keeping and scheduling.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and restraining animals.
- Fear Free certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
