Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce.

As a Systems Security Engineer II, you will be using your skills and expertise to deploy, operate and maintain our secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, and tuning.
You'll be responsible for the management of our IT security systems and applications, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments, and developing and implementing security controls.
You’ll work as part of a motivated team to provide best-in-breed security solutions to meet our demanding customer requirements.
The Systems Security Engineer is responsible for deploying, operating, documenting and maintaining secure IT systems. The SSE’s primary focus will be the operations of a newly minted secure development environment as part of a large US Air Force program.
The SSE closely collaborates with users, administrators, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cybersecurity controls are effectively implemented, measured, monitored and documented throughout the entire system lifecycle.
The SSE is a vital contributor within SNC’s highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems.
Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground / flight training and complete logistics support.
IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.
Must-haves :
- Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
- Bachelor’s degree in systems security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline and at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Experience with boundary protection techniques and technologies
- Experience in NIST 800-53 and Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls
Preferred :
- ISM CAP, CISSP, or CISM Certification
- ISSE CAP, CISSP-ISSEP Certification
- ISSO Security+, CISA, or CASP+ Certification
- MCSE or Linux Security Certification
- Current TS / SCI Clearance
- Experience with VMWare ESXi hypervisor administration and deployment
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server virtualized administration and deployment
