About this job :

External Reporting North America has an opening on its team for a Staff Accountant. This is a great opportunity to join an organization and team to build the financial reporting experience necessary to take the next step in your career.

Reporting directly to the Controller North America, you will have the unique opportunity to learn the necessary skills required to be successful in this role.

You will be part of a team responsible for the regulatory reporting of three Property & Casualty reinsurance companies as well as additional entities within the U.

S. holding company structure. This role will give you the opportunity to work with personnel across all levels and locations of the organization.

About the role :

  • Assist in the coordination and analysis of local quarterly and annual regulatory filings including the Annual / Quarterly Statements to the NAIC / State Regulators, Annual / Quarterly Statement to OSFI (Canadian Regulator)
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Audited Financial Statements on a USSTAT basis and IFRS (Canada) basis, including close coordination with external auditors
  • Quarterly review of the USGAAP, USSTAT, IFRS (Canada) financial Statements
  • Prepare reconciliations of Clearwater Investment System and USSTAT Financial Statements
  • Support of the quarterly federal tax provisioning for all U.S. non-life tax filers
  • Support the preparation of various data calls (RAA, BEA)
  • Support various tax filings (Federal, FET, Sales / Use Tax, State and Local)
  • Support the production of legal entity plans and capital forecasts
  • Review and assist in the preparation of board materials
  • Ensure accuracy checks and documents are completed with the highest quality and on a timely basis and all controls are completed
  • Support Group projects working with various co-workers located in other PartnerRe locations

Qualifications

About you :

  • College / University Degree in Accounting is required
  • At minimum of 4 years of accounting / reporting experience ideally in insurance / reinsurance industry
  • Knowledge of USSTAT (SSAP) and USGAAP accounting standards. IFRS (Canada) knowledge a plus.
  • General understanding of insurance / reinsurance concepts and statutory requirements
  • Strong working experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and wDesk
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
  • Strong attention to detail and deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and always stiving for improvement.
