The Robot Data Platform team at Zoox plays a crucial role in ingesting our vehicle data into our data lake and having it easily accessible for various downstream data processing needs.
The Opportunity Are you excited to manage our Robot Data Platform team, which builds the infrastructure, services, and tools that manage our lifecycle of vehicle data?
You will be responsible for ingesting, validating, processing, and serving several hundreds of petabytes of vehicle data for various downstream needs, such as assembling training datasets, building simulation workloads, etc.
You will work across diverse teams, including our AI, Firmware, QA, Data Science, and Release management teams, to understand the nature of data flowing through our systems and the requirements of data consumers and push the boundaries of how we make data-driven decisions at Zoox.
We build and operate the data ingestion and validation pipelines, a custom storage format optimized for our business use cases, and tools for ensuring data is easily discoverable with fine-grained access control and data retention policies.
You will manage a team of software engineers and act as a force multiplier for our internal customers. This team has many growth opportunities as we expand our robotaxi fleets and venture into new ML domains.
In this role, you will :
- Develop and execute a strategic vision for our Robot Data Platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to support our autonomous vehicle operations while remaining cost-efficient.
- Lead the design, implementation, and operation of a robust and efficient data platform that is the backbone of our ML, Simulation, and business-critical data needs.
- Attract, hire, and inspire a diverse, world-class engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives across Zoox to define requirements and align on architectural decisions.
- Empower team members with the right opportunities and clear and timely feedback to grow their careers.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of total experience, including 2+ years of engineering management experience.
- Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing engineering teams.
- Experience building large-scale data infrastructure that powers ML and analytical use cases.
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks like Spark, Flink, Ray, etc.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure.
CompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position : salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights.
The salary range for this position is $204,000 to $342,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package.
Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
