The Manager of Minimally Invasive Surgery Program will be responsible for prioritizing and budgeting strategic initiatives, managing deliverables, coordinating frontline teams to carry out program vision, ensuring resources capacity and stewardship across the portfolio of Minimally Invasive assets in our Health System.
Build and Maintain the Infrastructure for a Minimally Invasive Robotics Program
Responsible for goal development, strategic planning, and evaluation of goal achievement that is in alignment with Periop Leadership, the Robotic Surgery Steering Committee and UVA Health System Strategic Plan.
Direct the development of a Programmatic approach robotic education for UVA Health Main O.R., Outpatient Surgery Center (OPSC), Ortho Center at Ivy Road, Surgical Center at Riverside (SCR), and UVA Health Community Hospitals as well as develop criteria of competency of frontline team members.
Assumes administrative leadership role in Robotic Surgery Committee, subcommittees, ad hoc working groups.
Serves as primary liaison to the Robot manufacturer and field representative.
Oversees operational planning and coordination of support services to the Robotics planning, including : VETS, Clinical Engineering, Central Supply / SPD, and Business Operations (scheduling, charge capture, capital budget planning).
Builds infrastructure to support strategic growth of Minimally Invasive Surgery programs within General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Urology, Gynecologic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and other medical center entities.
Manages administrative functions of tracking competencies and compliance with all aspects of the Robotic Program.
Manages administrative functions of ensuring routine maintenance is performed on fleet of robots
Achieve National Reputation and Accreditations
Manages path to UVA becoming an Accredited Robotic Center of Excellence.
Liaison outside the institution with the public and outside health care professionals as needed related to robotic surgery.
Collaborate with marketing department on coordination of tours and community events for promotional initiatives.
Leads collaboration with research and education on robotics with local and national medical institutions for advancement in robotic surgery and medical technology.
Develops and coordinates executive education in robotic surgery designed for external administrators responsible for developing robotic programs or for those in the process of initiating a robotic program
Ensures Efficiency and Resource Stewardship
Create Robotic Data Portal to track and measure progress towards institutional goals
Develop benchmark initiatives in robotic O.R. efficiency and patient safety. These initiatives will lead the standards in robotic patient safety and O.R. efficiency.
Identify creative cost saving initiatives while maintaining or improving quality of service.
Assists in the development of capital budgets. Effectively communicates realistic, well defined budget plans that support other planning efforts.
Evaluates actual to budgeted expenses.
Facilitates effective use of time, people, materials and financial resources.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range : $98,841.60 $158,142.40 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education : Bachelors degree is required. Masters is preferred.
Experience : 5 years of experience in hospital systems and / or program development required. Prior demonstration of leadership and management skills preferred.
