In partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives to advance community health throughout the city.
Program Overview
The Division of the Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness (CHECW) is devoted to strengthening the Department’s ability to strategically partner with the NYC healthcare system to ensure equitable access to and delivery of healthcare and social services to NYC residents.
Position Overview
The Senior Clinical and Population Health Data Analyst will work on the Program Evaluation and Planning team within PCIP, leveraging multiple healthcare data sources to respond to public health needs, meet program evaluation objectives, and track trends in population health and healthcare utilization in ambulatory care settings.
The analyst will be responsible for developing, testing, and validating queries, conducting analyses, and summarizing findings on data quality, trends, and data patterns to assess disease prevalence, patient quality of care, and preventative service utilization in ambulatory primary care settings.
Responsibilities
- Develop SQL queries of electronic health record data aligned with clinical quality measures and population health metrics.
- Conduct data management, diagnostics, and data quality assurance using SAS, SQL, or R.
- Advise bureau staff on data quality assurance practices to maintain data integrity.
- Assess the feasibility of leveraging EHR and RHIO data to monitor healthcare utilization and outcomes.
- Create data summaries, presentations, and other visualizations to report on data quality and analytical results.
- Create and update provider dashboards utilizing clinical quality measures data from EHRs.
- Conduct literature reviews, write manuscripts for peer-review publications, and other research summaries.
- Present findings to the bureau, divisional, and agency leadership as needed.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in physical, biological, or environmental sciences or public health.
- Strong programming skills in analytical and statistical software (SAS and SQL preferred).
- At least 3 years of experience analyzing clinical and healthcare data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of epidemiological data analysis and program evaluation methodologies.
- Willingness to adapt to new data structures and tackle novel problems creatively.
- Working knowledge of or interest in public health and health equity topics.
- Competency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
SALARY
Salary range is $80,000 to $90,000.
WORK SCHEDULE
9 : 00 am 5 : 00 pm, Monday - Friday, Hybrid

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
