Medical Office Assistant / Receptionist

Medical Office Assistant / Receptionist for a Small Private Practice Serving Children and Adults with Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities

Medical Office Assistant / Receptionist Job Responsibilities :

  • Patient check-in : Greets patients on scheduled clinic days. Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating information demographics in scheduling software.
  • Patient check-out : Process patients after appointment and schedule next follow up appointment. Collect and process payment information, prepare receipts, daily census, etc.
  • Prepares patient charts, superbills and payment and summary forms prior to clinic days.
  • Maintains ongoing medical record filing of charts and reports.
  • Supports clinical / administrative staff with faxing, mailing, charts or phone calls as requested. Other tasks as needed.
  • Appointment reminder calls to parent to confirm scheduled appointment.
  • Set up telemedicine appointments using Zoom technology.
  • Maintains organization and upkeep of waiting area and playroom on clinic days.
  • Maintains business office inventory and notifies administrator of supplies to be ordered.
  • Protects patients’ rights (HIPAA) by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.

Education, Experience

  • Must have prior experience in a medical office dealing with direct patient contact, scheduling, registration, processing payments, and medical records.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office software including word, excel, and outlook. Basic computer skills and knowledge of uploading and downloading files.
  • Certificate / Associate or college degree is an asset.
  • Other work experience considered.

Work Schedule : Full Time (40 hours per week).

Salary : Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
