SENIOR MAINTENANCE AIDE / SEASONAL DISTRICT FACILITIES MANAGEMENT / STATEWIDE TRAIL CREW / McCLELLAN

The reporting location for this position is 4940 Lang Avenue in McClellan, CA. This position will work under the direction of Park Maintenance Chief II.

This Senior Maintenance Aide will frequently work from remote locations to efficiently complete task assignments. This position will provide daily support to contracted youth corps crews in project implementation that includes trail and road construction, maintenance, and resource activities.

Work will include heavy manual labor, extensive walking to and from work sites, hot summer temperatures, cold winter conditions including work in rain and snow conditions, and work in high altitude, desert, and coastal environments.

This position requires extensive travel and long-term project coordination at any State Park. This position is required to work nights, weekends, and odd hours and overtime in accomplishment of assigned tasks.

This position will spike camp at work sites throughout the state. Remote work locations, 8 or 10-day work assignments, overnight travel and spike camps are expected.

This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application.

Extensive travel will be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

The incumbent’s work schedule will be Wednesday to Wednesday from 7 : 00 AM to 5 : 30 PM.

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application.

Working Conditions

This job includes the ability to perform a variety of heavy manual labor work to restore and maintain state park resources and facilities, and requires working outdoors in inclement weather conditions, smoky conditions related to prescribed fire, hiking over uneven and steep terrain, and carrying heavy loads.

This position is required to travel Statewide for extended periods of time. The position also requires working nights, weekends, odd hours, and overtime to accomplish assigned tasks.

This position is required to spike camp outside in remote sites throughout the California State Park system.
