The HR Director oversees HR Operations, Employee and Labor Relations, Payroll, and Risk Management for the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
This position functions at a high level, collaborating with and offering consultation to the Office of the Secretary, Division Directors, District Engineers, District Business Managers, and District HR Managers.
The incumbent has extensive responsibility and must manage the development and implementation of HR goals, policy, procedures, and strategic initiatives to support the mission of the agency.
The position oversees a staff of 25 and is responsible for providing multiple and diverse employee support functions to a large state agency of 2600 FTE.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in any related field and twelve (12) years of experience in human resource operations; recruitment, selection, payroll, compensation, and benefits administration and / or occupational analysis.
Four (4) years of supervisory experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of this classification.

Employment Requirements :
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions :
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual / Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
