Salary : $130,000 $135,000

THE ROLE
This is a project-funded position. Renewal of the position is subject / dependent upon continued project opportunities. If not renewed, the incumbent can apply for other roles within StoryCorps.
This role is expected to end on December 31, 2027.
Director, Campaign will oversee all elements of StoryCorps’ first Campaign, beginning with the current silent phase through the public launch and ultimate completion.
Director, Campaign will be tasked with accomplishing the goal of raising $25M by the end of 2026. The Director will oversee their own portfolio of donors as well as work with other senior leaders on the development team, the campaign committee and executive leadership on all campaign prospects and gifts.
To be most successful in this role, the Director will have front-line fundraising / campaigning experience and present an entrepreneurial and results-driven spirit.
The Director will be expected to lean into their experience in strategically using data and systems at all points in the giving cycle.
The Director, Campaign reports to the Chief Development Officer and supervises the Associate Manager, Campaign.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Manage all aspects of the Campaign, ensuring it maintains forward momentum and progress toward the goal
- Lead the development of the Case of Support and all campaign collateral for all constituencies including the Board of Directors and the general audience
- Draft talking points, research, proposals, and reports for donor solicitations and stewardship
- Manage and advance the campaign pipeline for all potential campaign donors
- Prepare campaign solicitors for all solicitations; attend meetings and make solicitations when appropriate
- Use data to identify, rate, and qualify donors for each phase of the campaign
- Lead the development and implementation of campaign cultivation and stewardship events
- Manage the Campaign Committee including preparing materials for meetings and meeting follow-ups
- In conjunction with the Associate Manager, Campaign, draft and complete gifts agreements, pledge reminders, and gift acknowledgments for campaign gifts
- Work with StoryCorps leadership on campaign income and expense budgets
- As a member of the development team, maintain a portfolio of current major donors and prospects for the campaign as well as other StoryCorps initiatives
- In conjunction with the Chief Development Officer and Associate Manager, Campaign, manages board relations related to the Campaign including relevant board committees
- Perform other duties to support the Development department / function as assigned
ABOUT YOU
Required :
Minimum of 8-10 years experience in annual or individual giving in an established development program, and a proven track record of growing individual giving pipelines and securing 5 and 6-figure gifts
Intense drive for results, a sense of urgency, and a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals and creating and implementing new initiatives
- Experience in planning a range of successful fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events from intimate cocktail parties to large-scale galas
- Fluency in data management using fundraising CRM systems; strong analytical skills, and a track record of using data and systems to drive fundraising strategy
- Experience creating and managing departmental budgets and revenue projections
Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience providing staff supervision and leadership; strong team-building and collaborative skills
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Solid organization skills, multi-tasking ability, and attention to detail
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to contribute to problem-solving activities within a growing, changing organization
- Cultural competence / humility and the ability to thrive in a diverse work environment
Experience with Salesforce preferred; CRM experience required
Preferred :
Experience leading a campaign at the $25MM+ level
Physical Requirements :
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
Must have the ability to walk short distances
- Travel up to 15%
- Must be available to be in NYC or other donor locations as needed for in-person donor meetings
