Job Summary :
CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for a researcher on numerical analysis of vibrations of rotary systems.
The researcher will be responsible for developing innovative and novel techniques to model downhole vibrations and implementing algorithms based on those models.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct original research on the vibrations of rotary systems.
- Develop mathematical models and computer algorithms.
- Collect and analyze vibration data to support model and algorithm development.
- Develop strong relationships and maintain regular contact with supporting teams off-site.
- Conduct all business activities in accordance with CNPC USA core values.
- Commitment to occupational health, safety & working environment based on HSE rules and regulations.
- Adheres to, and is an advocate of, CNPC USA Product Development and Commercialization Process ensuring cross-functional workflow through all phases of stage gate product development process.
- Author / co-author technical reports, papers, articles, patents, and presentations
- Assume and perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Key Skills :
- Advanced understanding of rigid body, multi-body, and non-linear dynamics
- Thorough technical understanding of physics / mechanics, mathematics, and numerical methods
- Experience in writing and debugging C++, C#, Java, or similar programming language.
- Experience in data analysis, machine learning / artificial intelligence, discretization methods, and computational geometry is a plus.
- Experience with downhole drilling tools and drilling processes is a plus.
- Proven ability to deliver on time, on target, with quality and sustainability.
- Effective time management, organizational, presentation, and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and adjust to changing schedules and deadlines based on priorities.
- Self-starter and team player with ability to work independently when needed.
Qualifications :
Ph.D. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related field
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
Work Environment :
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands :
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role;
however, some filing, bending and the ability to lift 20lbs is required.
Travel :
This position requires some overnight international and domestic travel. Local travel between other CNPC USA locations and testing facilities is required.
Supervisory Responsibility :
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, however, does act as a mentor and point of contact for less experienced mechanical design engineers.
