Auto Performance Shop, looking for a technician for an exciting career in the performance industry. Their duties include learning about performance parts, performing inspections, running vehicle diagnostic tests and replacing damaged and / or outdated components, keeping workspaces clean, and explaining procedures to customers.
Their duty also includes keeping an accurate log of all the work they performed.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- be able to install and make recommendations on performance parts
- Performing routine automotive maintenance tasks, which could include oil change, tire rotation, battery installations, headlight and taillight installations, transmission work / flushes, air conditioner recharges, and front-end alignments
- Conducting diagnostic procedures to identify the cause of automotive issues and make effective and accurate recommendations
- Conducting necessary repairs and testing vehicles before handing them back to customers
- Inspecting vehicles to ensure they meet provincial requirements for safety and emissions on non-performance cars
- Maintaining knowledge of current industry best practices
- Ensuring equipment longevity
- Maintaining a clean and safe workplace
- Recording maintenance requests and customer reports of issues like excessive engine noise or poor handling
- Conducting vehicle inspections and reporting any problems
- Using electronic diagnostic equipment to find issues quickly
- Making sure tools and equipment are working well
- Complying with company and government regulations
- Properly disposing of used oil, radiator fluid, worn-out parts, and other components
- Keep track of work performed with accurate records
- Prepare quotes and estimates of work cost
- Keep track of parts, supplies and tools
- Repair brake and steering systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems.
- Replace or repair transmissions and fuel components as needed.
- Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.
- Possess a valid state driver’s license for conducting test drives.
Job qualifications and skills :
- Education : High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience : 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge and ability to operate auto repair tools
- Knowledge and ability to use diagnostic tools
- Well-versed in the use of automotive tools in general
- Willingness to Learn about Auto performance parts and install
- Excellent customer service, time management skills and active listening skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to move items like motor oil containers and tires
- Ability to do basic math, read gauges, and understand readouts on diagnostic equipment
- Extensive understanding of repair equipment and how vehicles work
- Willingness to deal with dirt, dust, oil, gas, and other unpleasant or potentially hazardous substances
- Problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of diagnostic equipment
- Inspecting vehicles and identifying fault
