Position Overview : We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and a commitment to providing individualized support and instruction to students with diverse learning needs.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address the unique strengths and challenges of each student.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring goals are aligned with their educational needs and strengths.
• Provide direct instruction and support in a variety of educational settings, adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, parents, and external specialists to ensure a cohesive approach to student support and learning.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, behavior, and interventions.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, growth, and social-emotional development.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• New York State teaching certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities) or eligibility for certification through reciprocity.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and emotional / behavioral disorders.
• Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders.
