The City of Milwaukie is seeking dedicated, skilled individuals to fill the roles of Transportation Utility Technician I or Transportation Utility Technician II. Depending on qualifications, this position may be filled at either the Transportation Utility Technician I or II level. Those hired at the Utility Tech I level will work toward the licensing and certification requirements of the Utility Tech II. Essential Functions

Transportation Utility Technician I (Entry-Level)

This is the entry-level classification in the Transportation Technician series, perfect for those who are ready to learn and grow. As a Technician I, you'll perform essential street maintenance and repair tasks, using hand tools, power tools, and light equipment under the direction of the Lead Utility Technician.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assisting with routine street repairs, including paving, patching, and crack sealing.
• Maintaining right-of-way areas, including vegetation control and sidewalk repair.
• Responding to public service requests and after-hours emergencies like snow / ice events and storm cleanup.
• Operating and maintaining dump trucks and related equipment under direction.
• Performing heavy manual labor in all weather conditions, with physical exertion including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Transportation Utility Technician II (Journey-Level)

This is a journey-level classification that offers increased complexity, greater independence, and regular use of heavy equipment. As a Technician II, you'll perform advanced maintenance and repair work on City streets and right-of-way infrastructure, taking direction from the lead utility technician.

Additional Information

Working Conditions : Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to traffic, noise, dust, and hazardous materials. Duties require physical exertion including lifting to 50 lbs. and performing physical labor. Use of personal protective equipment required. Subject to emergency callouts.

Additional Information : Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in on-call assignments if volunteer program is not fulfilled. Ongoing training and certification may be required to maintain and enhance job performance.

Compensation : If appointed as a Transportation Utility Tech II The salary range for this overtime-eligible union-represented position is $4,926 $6,287 per month. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate's related experience and education as documented on the employment application in accordance with the city's pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would generally be no higher than $5,988 per month.

If appointed as a Transportation Utility Tech I The salary range for this overtime-eligible union-represented position is $4,692 $5,988 per month. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate's related experience and education as documented on the employment application in accordance with the city's pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would generally be no higher than $5,706 per month.
