KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides leadership to the Coordinator of Athletic Equipment and Facility Operations and oversees and manages all facility areas within Emory Athletics.
The Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities and Events also assists the Associate Director Athletic Facilities in the day-to-day oversight of facilities maintenance, improvements, and Athletics events.
Responsibilities include a wide variety of administrative and supervisory duties including, but not limited to, personnel management, fiscal management, student development, risk management, facility management, rules, and policy development at the Woodruff Center (WPEC) and the assists at the Student Activity and Academic Center (SAAC).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience in facility and / or event management. Experience in a multi-sport, broad based athletic program with the ability to work evenings and weekend hours.
A valid Georgia driver's license is required. CPR certifications required within 60 days of employment.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS :
- Directly supervises and prepares performance evaluations for two full-time employee, Coordinator for Athletic Equipment & Facility Operations and Aquatics Coordinator.
- Oversees the hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, payroll and provides referrals for approximately 75 student staff.
- Assists the Associate Director with the development and review of recommendations regarding short-term and long-range facility projects.
- Abides by all NCAA, conference and institutional eligibility regulations and NCAA Principles of Ethical Conduct. -Communicates with Facilities Management and Building Custodial Services regarding follow through on the status of work orders and custodial services.
- Identifies and communicates facilities issues to the Associate Director of Athletic Facilities. -Prepares all athletic fields for events including lining and striping fields.
Coordinates the purchase of athletic paint within the parameters of the athletic and recreation budget. -Provides accurate up-to-date inventory and usage of paint for justifications of purchases.
- Assists with coordination for summer camps, clinics and rentals. -Hires, trains, and supervises summer camp facility assistants.
- Maintains information binders for clients. -Coordinates field lining. -Manages background checks for all clients. -Coordinates with facilities management for equipment orders.
- Maintains all Athletic and Recreation vehicles on a weekly basis and assist with annual inspections and tags from Emory Motor Vehicle Department.
- Inspects WPEC and SAAC tennis courts, outdoor track / bleachers, and other outdoor facilities on a daily basis and perform routine maintenance / cleaning such as windscreen repairs, trash removal, air blow leaves and debris.
- Oversees risk management assessment of all athletic equipment when not in use. -Oversees preventative maintenance and regular safety inspection.
- Oversees the varsity locker rooms for all intercollegiate sports. -Ensures that they are maintained and functioning properly, cleaned out at the appropriate time, and assigned to the proper student athlete.
- Oversees the orders from sponsors that are used during intercollegiate events. Maintains storage areas in the WPEC. -Establishes the game day work schedules and facility setup.
- Oversees physical setup and breakdown for all intercollegiate contests. -Assists with internal facility reservations. -In coordination with the Director of Events & Marketing, supervises all aspects of game day event management.
- Communicates game schedules, changes, and field needs related to practices and games (cutting, lining) with Department of Roads and Grounds.
- Supervises the greeting of opponents and officials. -Supervises and coordinates the use of locker rooms for visiting teams.
- Attends a weekly event management meeting with key stakeholders to review coverage, logistics and details of upcoming events.
- Abides by all NCAA, conference and institutional eligibility regulations and NCAA Principles of Ethical Conduct. -Serves on NCAA host management team as needed.
- Attends departmental and divisional meetings as necessary. -Serve in an on-call function to support operations at the facilities.
- Serves as a department ranking staff member on duty for the athletic facilities, which includes, but is not limited to, serving as a first responder for emergency situations and providing emergency care, providing customer service, resolving conflicts and making decision and judgments regarding program and facility usage.
- Assists with any drop in recreation patrons as needed. -Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.
- This position is responsible for the integrity of Emory's intercollegiate athletics program and for the reputation of Emory University.
- This position is responsible for ensuring that his / her involvement with Athletic Department activities maintains the integrity of the University's reputation and does not negatively impact the relationship between the University and its faculty, staff, students and alumni.
- Additionally, this position must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
NOTE : Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
