Job Summary :

Due to our continued expansion with the Laboratory Transformation Project, Vanderbilt Laboratory Services (VLS) is seeking to hire a certified Supervisor Pathologists' Assistant (PA), whom will report to the Manager of Anatomic Pathology, and whom will have responsibilities for supervising effective and efficient integration and management of the team and operations to properly provide gross dissection and autopsy services.

Defines performance standards and manages operations to support consistent outcomes which meet or exceed quality standards.

Plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of personnel engaged in testing and implements new technology. In support of the Pathology Residency & Fellowship programs, provides the primary training in gross surgical and autopsy pathology for Resident and Fellow Pathologists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages daily activities and the team to optimize operational processes and meet quality performance standards within the Gross Room Laboratory service.
  • Supervises personnel, selects new employees, assures staff are properly trained and meet competencies, identifies training needs, responsible for performance evaluation.
  • Develops and implements quality control / assurance program, including appropriate proficiency testing and peer review standards.
  • Maintains all required activities and documents to assure compliance with both regulatory and accreditation standards applicable to this laboratory.

Desired Qualifications :

  • ASCP Pathologists' Assistant Certification
  • 4 or more years relevant experience as a Pathologists' Assistant and / or supervisory experience

Position Shift :

VUMC Diagnostic Anatomic Gross Room Pathology lab, located in Nashville, Tennessee (TN), Exempt, Day Shift, Rotating between MetroCenter and VUH lab locations

Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
