Position Highlights : R6 Oncology
- Number of beds on unit : 16
- Patient population : The Oncology Unit specializes in the care of acutely ill Oncology / Hematology patients, with diagnosis related to acute and / or chronic illnesses, including but not limited to Oncology / hematology diseases.
The unit also takes low acuity medical / surgical patients as needed.
- Nurse to Patient ratio : 1 : 4-6
- Department culture and resources : Fast-paced, team-oriented unit working closely with physicians and ancillary team members.
Robust Partnership Committee, unit-based educator, nurse supervisors, and charge nurses.
Frequent nursing skills / equipment used : Chemo administration, Foley / IV / NG / Mediport insertions, Central line care and lab draws, IV pumps, PCA pumps, Feeding pumps, Lift equipment, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring, Patient connection
Key Responsibilities :
- Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop appropriate plan of care
- Take responsibility for patient and employee safety
- Communicate effectively and resolve issues professionally
- Fulfill all departmental competencies
- Appropriately perform patient care duties
