PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Director of Law Faculty Services, plays a crucial role by reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Law Faculty and providing executive assistant support.
Key responsibilities include managing the offices of the Associate Deans, supporting the curriculum, colloquium, and promotion and tenure faculty committees, overseeing curriculum planning, and leading the faculty support staff.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in administrative roles, and advanced proficiency in computer applications.
Given that this position remains constant while the Associate Deans and faculty committee chairs may change, the Director is essential in providing institutional memory and carrying significant delegated responsibilities.
Success in this role requires exceptional skills in managing complex office operations, coordinating activities of faculty committees, leading a team of staff, and ensuring institutional continuity within a dynamic academic setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Executive Administrative Support
- Manage the Associate Deans’ Offices, including operational systems, correspondence, and calendar management
- Develop, disseminate, and interpret department policies and procedures.
- Gather and analyze data, prepare reports, and maintain historical files
- Support the faculty committees outlined in the primary purpose paragraph
- Develop meeting agendas, take and distribute minutes, and manage follow-up tasks and tracking of action items
- Manage faculty promotion timelines, processes, and all support documentation
Faculty and Adjunct Support
- Manage the three-year curriculum planning processwith the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
- In coordination with the Dean’s Executive Assistant, transition and orient new faculty members
- Manage the timeline and process for faculty promotions
- Facilitate all adjunct hiring and onboarding processes
- Work with the director of the advocacy center to coordinate moot court competition arrangements
- Support faculty research, including managing budgets, summer research grants, and scholarship publications
- Coordinate the placement of student research assistants and fellows with faculty research, including the hiring process
Supervise Faculty Support Staff
- Supervise the day to day activities of faculty support staff team of 5 according to the union’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and in coordination with Human Resources
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations with developmental support
- Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with university policy and in coordination with Human Resources
Additional Responsibilities
- Update faculty web pages
- Manage Scholastica account
- Manage some group emails
- Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- 5 years of experience working with a diverse range of individuals, including resolving and de-escalating issues, and handling significant responsibilities
- Supervisory experience
- Budget management experience

- Starting at $78,000 per year with consideration for experience
