Position Summary :
The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our partner law firms. This position involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and best practices.
You'll contribute to the financial success of our partner clients by providing timely and accurate financial information and supporting their decision-making processes.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for assigned partner law firms, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for partner law firms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to the partner law firm and internal management.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities for assigned partner law firms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partner law firm staff to gather financial data and support their business initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting principles (GAAP), and best practices relevant to the legal industry.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes for partner law firms, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
- Perform regular analysis of balance sheet accounts for partner law firms, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations for partner law firms.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and controls for partner law firm accounts.
- Stay updated with accounting standards, industry best practices, and changes in regulations specific to the legal industry.
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects assigned to partner law firm accounts.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a similar role within a professional services firm or the legal industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and partner law firm staff.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also being a team player.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the legal industry is a plus.
Compensation : $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
