Position Summary
This is a hybrid position located in Washington, D.C.
NCC is seeking a Managing Editor for an upcoming Task Order with the DoJ. This is an opportunity to grow, make a difference, and significantly advance your career, your impact, and your capabilities.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Content development.
- Coordinating with executive staff and subject matter experts.
- Contacting authors and providing guidance about the story's angle, tone, and format.
- Writing articles and other components, which may include :
- One article per issue.
- Director's message (approx. 400 words).
- Two page bulletin spread (approx. 1200 words).
- Summaries for the journal (approx. 80 words per article).
- Coordinate the review of drafts with staff and other individuals.
- Participate in planning discussions, prepare schedules, recommend content, and provide support for executive staff meetings.
- Coordinate review among authors, DoJ, and external reviewers, and executive staff.
- Oversee production activities, including layout and printing activities, submitting laser proofs for approval, submitting printer specs, preparing and delivering the printer package and preparing and delivering files for website postings.
- Coordinate copy edit of the manuscript and proofreading.
- Lead board meetings and act as secretariat of the board.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience within writing and editing publications and various documents.
- Excellent writing skills and knowledge of style guidelines.
