What will you be doing?
Argus' subscription services encompass a variety of fuels and commodities, including prices for gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, renewable fuels, asphalt, marine fuel oil, and environmental credits.
This management role is responsible for growing Argus' oil products subscription business. The successful candidate will raise stakeholder usage of Argus indexes in physical commodity contracts, financial contracts, and within stakeholder organizations.
- This position has responsibility for supporting development in the market to promote Argus indexation and products in the renewable fuels sector.
- The project manager will work closely with clients and new business prospects to enhance Argus standing and identify new opportunities and approaches to support development of new products that will provide value in the renewable fuels space
- The position will report to VP Renewables, North America.
Principal responsibilities :
- Increase indexation from key market participants in renewable and biofuels markets.
- Increase interest of suppliers / buyers on Argus risk management paper
- Continue outreach to engage traders in use of Argus and motivate key influencers in the market to switch to Argus
- Collaborate closely with sector leaders and editorial team managers in related markets to launch new products in this sector
- Engage with industry participants across all sectors to understand their interest in new renewables products
- Develop a robust plan for market outreach in conjunction with Marketing and Sales
- Attend key industry events and represent Argus as a speaker / committee member for related products
- The successful candidate will be highly innovative, focus on market information that provides key trends that identify customer needs, and develop strategy and appropriate tactics to implement the objectives :
- existing experience in business development in biofuels sector
- good understanding of biofuels credits and emerging trends in this sector
- exceptional collaborative skills
- above-average project management skills to accomplish the vision.
- Develop and execute a strategic plan to maintain and grow usage of Argus renewable and biofuels fuel indexes within an assigned beat (gasoline, diesel, biofuels, etc)
- Act as liaison to staff at major oil companies, primarily traders, analysts and pricing staff.
- Maintain a direct line of communication to Argus price reporters / editors, representing external stakeholders to this group and promoting the launch of new indexes as required
- Identify challenges, changes, and opportunities in the renewables and biofuel markets, escalating these within the Argus organization as appropriate.
- Identify problems market participants are experiencing with indexes & risk management, and identify opportunities to displace competitor indexes in markets where no clear problem exists.
- Collaborate with editorial staff to develop new indexes and change existing indexes, in consultation with traders and index users
- Collaborate with marketing staff and other managers to develop and enhance messaging around Argus' petroleum product indexes.
- This role operates within Argus' matrix organization, occupying a central position between regional leadership, editorial, & sales.
What we're looking for in you :
- Full time Houston resident
- 7-12 years' experience in bio and renewable fuels markets, ideally within pricing, risk, analysis, mid / back office.
- a clear communicator over email, over video chat, and in person.
- a keen interest in fuel / commodity markets, and an understanding of how spot markets operate
- the ambition to be great at what you do, and to grow within the Argus organization.
- good mental arithmetic and mathematical instincts
- a network of contacts within the Houston trading community
