Surgical Scheduler - Gastroenterology - Jefferson Health New Jersey - Full-Time Days

Responsibilities

The Surgical Scheduler enhances the patient / customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient / outpatient procedures and / or surgeries.

The Surgical Scheduler supports delivery of the Jefferson Experience by placing emphasis on the prompt and courteous treatment of all patients.

Essential Responsibilities :

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Collect and review patient insurance information to include but not limited to : obtaining prior authorizations (inpatient and outpatient) and referral information and ensure all necessary approvals are in place prior to the scheduled surgical procedure.
• Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone.
• Provides patient with all necessary pre-operative instructions
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
• Other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service and / or patient facing healthcare experience preferred.
• Willingness to provide and support a positive Jefferson Experience for all patients and / or visitors
• Ability to process and interpret data
• Ability to multi task while managing a time sensitive workload

Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson’s clinical entities or at the University.

If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
