We are looking for a Hardware Engineering Program Manager II to join the team.

As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance.

To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 2+ years’ experience in Engineering, Product / Technical Program Management, Data Analysis, or Product Development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year (s) experience managing cross-functional and / or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ years experience managing end-to-end (E2E) hardware product development, preferably in cloud infrastructure hardware or server development.

Other :

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings : Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years’ experience in Hardware Engineering, Product / Technical Program Management or Product Development
  • 5+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and / or cross-team projects.
  • Knowledge of high-volume server design and manufacturing is desired.
  • Knowledge about datacenters & operation at scale is desired.
  • 5+ years experience managing end-to-end (E2E) hardware product development, preferably in cloud infrastructure hardware or server development.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management from new product introduction (NPI) to post-product launch with leadership, management, facilitation, and problem-solving skills including L1 / L2 Triage Capability and, task prioritization and execution in a technological environment.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office tools (Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel etc.) and Power BI.

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical hardware programs from requirements through launch, including managing complex project schedules, removing roadblocks, and keeping processes running smoothly.
  • Align key stakeholders and manage projects through milestones to completion on schedule and in budget, with uncompromising quality.
  • Lead a virtual team of functional leads including members from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain, networking and datacenter operations for documenting a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for the new product development and leading the project team to meet stated milestones
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective project infrastructure.

Leverage experience and engineering skills to solve problems, fill gaps and achieve objectives through a cross functional team.

  • Personally navigate and skillfully lead others through complex, interrelated technical challenges and business issues to deliver impactful results.
