Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring a MO or compact RN license and strong Med / Surg and telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Medical Surgical unit within a short-term acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes acute medicine cases such as diabetes, renal issues, COPD, abdominal rule outs, and cancer patients not currently receiving chemotherapy
  • Staff-to-patient ratio is 1 : 6
  • 12-week assignment with 12-hour day shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 30
  • Every other weekend is required
  • Float within scope may be required to meet facility needs, including to affiliated hospitals
  • Block schedule is not accommodated
  • This unit does not care for postoperative surgical patients
  • Work in a Magnet-recognized, teaching, Level I Trauma Center with a large and diverse clinical team
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Parking information and passes are provided during orientation, with parking fees applicable for day shifts and day / night rotations; night shifts have no parking charge
  • Facial hair must allow for fit testing; shaving may be necessary to comply with safety standards
  • Pre-employment modules must be completed prior to start
  • Candidates must provide a valid SSN and DOB for consideration
  • Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required; pending license may be accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required
  • Must pass Relias EKG exam and demonstrate proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be considered
  • Up to 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler to this health system
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
