Operates vehicles such as large bulldozers and backhoes, cranes, graders, feller bunchers, prentice loaders, transit mix trucks or other vehicles of similar weight and complexity.

Essential Functions

• Operates large bulldozer, backhoe, crane, grad-all, grader, paver, track loader, road roller, large tow truck, large compactor, feller buncher, prentice loader, trackmobile, tank truck transporting flammable material, transit mix truck, or other earth moving, highway or utility maintenance or logging equipment of similar weight and complexity.
• Operates tandem dump truck, tank truck, front end loader, small backhoe, small bulldozer, flusher, vac-all dumpster, skidder, tandem log truck or similar equipment when necessary.
• Drives pick-up or panel trucks, small dump trucks, delivery trucks or other lighter weight vehicles equipped with snowplows and salt spreaders.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Performs laboring tasks in such areas as grounds, highway or utilities maintenance, or landfill operations.
• May assign, review the work of, and train semi-skilled and unskilled workers on construction sites.
• Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board's policies and the professional standards.

Desired Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Maryland Class A or B Commercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Department of Personnel's Division of Safety required.
• Three years of operation of earth moving, logging, highway or utility maintenance equipment experience.
• Skilled in the safe operation of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, cranes, grad-alls, graders, pavers, track loaders or other similar equipment.
• Skilled in the safe operation of heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, front end loaders, vac-alls or other similar trucks or equipment.
• Skilled in the safe operation of trucks, tractors and other related vehicles.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance check.
• Ability to perform laborer tasks.
• Ability to follow directions.
