Director, Software Engineering - Premium Products & Experiences
Capital One is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to join our Premium Products and Experiences organization. As Capital One increases focus on winning at the top of the market, this role will support our Premium Products & Experiences team, which includes investments we're making in Travel, Lounges, Concierge, Dining & Entertainment.
In this role you will lead teams building software in areas like Travel, Dining, Spend and Onboarding experiences for our customers.
You would be responsible for defining the technology vision and charter while developing deep relationships with stakeholders to help bring your strategy to life alongside product, business, design and tech partners.
You can expect to work on greenfield projects with a heavy focus on serverless technologies and other modern software tools.
You would be leading, mentoring and building exceptional software engineering teams for delivering game changing technologies.
As a candidate for this role, you're able to seamlessly switch from diving deep into technology with engineers to driving high-level, strategic discussions.
You are a naturally curious technologist and stay on top of emerging trends, including prototyping of nascent technologies.
You are not afraid to question any existing processes and solutions, yet you display a keen sense of business value proposition and focus on the right priorities.
In this role, you will :
- Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers
- Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team
- Work with product leaders to define the strategy, roadmap and destination architecture
- Manage a portfolio of diverse technology platforms and projects to build scalable applications that meet our customer needs
- Continuously improve software engineering practices
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
- Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
- Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 7 years' experience in software development
- At least 5 years' experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master's Degree
- 10+ years' of experience in software development
- 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following : Java, Python
- 4+ years of experience with AWS
- 5+ years' of experience in Agile practices
