Description :
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department for a 3x12-hour shift schedule. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing high-quality emergency care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct thorough and timely assessments of patients presenting to the Emergency Department, including vital signs and medical history.
- Provide immediate care for patients with acute medical conditions or injuries, prioritizing life-threatening situations.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety standards.
- Continuously monitor patients for changes in condition, responding quickly to any critical developments.
- Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families about treatment options, discharge instructions, and health management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in EPIC, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
- Assess incoming patients to prioritize care based on severity of conditions, ensuring timely treatment.
- Participate in emergency procedures and protocols, such as intubation, IV placement, and resuscitation efforts.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the Emergency Department, participating in staff training and development.
- Ensure that medical equipment is properly maintained and available for use, including telemetry monitors and Omnicell systems.
- Stay current with best practices and continuing education in emergency care and nursing standards.
Required Qualifications :
- Active NY Nursing License
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Experience with EPIC charting
- Familiarity with Omnicell medication system
- Minimum 5 years of ER nursing experience (3 years may be considered with solid experience)
