- The Labor and Delivery unit includes 7 L&D beds, 12 postpartum beds, 8 surgical beds.- The unit features 1 dedicated OR for C-sections and 2 GYN surgical OR suites.
- 3-bay triage handles an average of 17 patients per month.- Handle an average of 643 births annually.- Follow AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios : L&D 1 : 1-2, postpartum 1 : 2-3 couplets, 1 : 3-4 surgical / medical.
- Care for common diagnoses such as obstetric, antepartum, postpartum, and various pregnancy-related conditions.- Manage postpartum vaginal and C-section deliveries, hysterectomies, bladder repairs, and mastectomies.
- Expect RNs to be comfortable jumping in; experience with drip titration is a must.- Administer and manage common medications including pitocin, mag, insulin drips, procardia, labetalol, TXA, methergine, hemabate, and cervidil.
- Support from a charge nurse who also takes assignments and assists in deliveries.- Nursing staff includes 1 OB scrub tech (Monday-Friday, Day shift), a unit clerk, and occasional nurse techs.
- Opportunity to scrub in, preferred if capable.- OB and Neonatologist on call 24 / 7; Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) available overnight.
- Anesthesia support available 24 / 7.- RNs may be involved in troubleshooting RT equipment and ensuring proper tele-monitoring in c-section recovery with the GE / Corometrics system.
- Rotational scheduling done 6 weeks in advance, accommodating block scheduling as possible.- Weekend work required approximately every third weekend;
holiday work as needed.- Potential floating to various units including Pediatrics, NICU, Med / Surg, PCU, ICU, ED, and Psych.
- Surgical scrubs provided by the facility. - Two 12-hour shifts dedicated to unit-specific orientation.
