Position Summary & Duties : The Senior Electrical Power Engineer position is an onsite position working for Oil & Gas client in the Houston, TX area.
Senior Electrical Power Engineer Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage complex electrical power engineering projects with minimal oversight
- Develop, review, and approve critical electrical power engineering deliverables, including : One Line Diagrams, Electrical Load Lists, Equipment Specifications and Data Sheets (Transformers, Switchgears, etc.)
- Design of MCC, Switchgear, and Power Distribution Systems
- Cable Sizing & Routing Earthing and Lightning Protection System
- Designs Electrical Layout Plans (Substation Layout, Cable Tray Layout, etc.)
- Hazardous Area Classifications and Selection of Ex-Rated Equipment
- Power Systems Studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting, Harmonic Analysis)
- Relay Coordination Studies and Settings
- Participate in critical studies and reviews like HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessments
- Oversee the preparation, evaluation, and management of electrical requisition documentation, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews
- Direct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for complex electrical systems.
- Conduct and supervise comprehensive field surveys to document and assess existing conditions
- Provide expert collaboration with project teams, clients, and suppliers to resolve complex technical electrical power challenges
Qualifications :
Senior Electrical Power Engineer Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry
- Extensive experience in electrical power engineering, with a strong focus on LV and MV systems
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting wiring, fiber optics, and power design on-site Proficiency in SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical engineering simulation software
- PE Registration, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months, preferred
- Candidates should be located within daily commuting distance of Houston, TX.
