Job Description
Reports to : Maintenance Manager
Department : Maintenance
FLSA Status : Hourly
Hour : Monday - Friday 6 : 00 am - 2 : 30 pm. (Occasional Weekends)
OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE
The Plumber possesses the ability to assist in a variety of skills encompassing most of the construction trades; assisting other skilled trades;
and ensuring that tools and materials are available at the job site. Possess the ability to deal tactfully, effectively, and courteously with co-workers, management, and our customers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
Conduct regular building tours, and inspections, identifying needs and executing corrective action and / or coordinating with management and outside contractors.
Proven experience as a plumber
Cutting, assembling, and installing pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure
Locate and repair issues with water supply lines and drains.
Installing and maintaining water supply systems
Repair or replace broken drainage lines, clogged drains, faucets, etc.
Install waste disposal and sanitary systems with well-functioning DWV systems
Ability to handle plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers etc.)
Follow state laws and regulations and adhere to local building codes
Possess the ability to work independently and as a team member
Workdays and schedules are generally routine, however are subject to change. Be prepared / available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers.
Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection form.
Following all safety requirements including lockout / tagout and use appropriate PPE.
Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
Document all installed equipment : make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to Maintenance Supervisor what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
Complete work orders and record material utilized on jobs. Receive and complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor.
Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.
Identify and report to Maintenance Supervisor potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services).
OT may be required without notice to complete work assigned time off may be offered or required within the same pay period to meet budget demands.
Good communication and interpersonal skills

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION : High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate degree or two-year degree of an plumbing program from a trade school or community college preferred or completion of an plumbing apprenticeship program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Valid NC drivers’ license. Valid plumbing license
EXPERIENCE : Requires three to five years’ experience in inspection, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting plumbing systems and equipment.
SKILLS : Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plumbing diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals.
Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands.
The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift / move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The employee may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. The noise level is usually moderate.
