Annual Salary : $ 46,500 / year
Position Summary
The Family Finder is the centralized point of contact for all related duties in searching for immediate and extended family members of children involved in the dependency system.
At the earliest point possible, this position engages in data mining to explore all family connections and assess the willingness / availability of family members to be a resource and supportive connection and whenever possible to offer the best placements for the children in care.
This position connects with extended family and informal support to improve timeliness to permanency, and well-being. The Family Finder position related duties will include diligent searches, participating in case transfer staffing’s, data entry, collection of relatives and extended family members, completion of home studies and reporting and reconciliation of information reporting to the County Director.
T e c hni c al / Functional Expectations :
Family Finding : Engages in methods and strategies to locate relatives, non-relatives and connections for children and youth residing in out of home care.
Performs detailed searches of immediate family members and extended family members, completes family trees, and identify possible relative placements and supports.
D iligent Search : Completes extensive efforts to locate and document the names of relatives and significant persons in the life of a child involved in the child welfare system and / or at risk of out of home care placement.
Completes diligent searches on absent parents or relatives on dependency cases.
- Internet Savvy : Utilizes multiple internet search browsers as well as social media to conduct searches to identify and contact family members.
- Completes Home Studies : Face to face visits to the family’s home to conduce a detailed assessment of prospective relative / nonrelative including physical residence, background screen, moral character, familial status, health and financial information of applicants.
- D a ta Integrity : Assists and provides internal controls to authenticate data integrity.
- M eeting Attendance : Attends MDT meetings, staff meetings, in-service training and other meetings or conferences as necessary to share and gather information.
- Other duties as required : Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting, and training others, and performing or covering duties of other members in the child welfare system from time to time for ongoing growth and development.

B u siness Experience :
- Valid Driver's License - Essential : A valid driver's license is required to transport clients around the community; attend training and other activities throughout the County and State.
- S trong written and verbal communication skills : Effective communication skills are essential to clearly and concisely coach parents if needed during Family Time sessions.
Strong written skills are required as observations of client contacts will be documented in FSFN SACWIS system and emails, and other requests require a professional and courteous response.

Educational and Experience Requirements :
BA / BS bachelor’s degree required in a social work or related area of study from an accredited college or university required.
Related degrees are Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Counselling, Special Education, Education, Human Development, Child Development, Family Development, Marriage, and Family Therapy)
