Position Information
The Department of Built Environment seeks an experienced professional with a teaching and / or administrative background in Career Technology Education (CTE) or Technology and Engineering (T&E) education who would like the opportunity to share their knowledge and skills with pre-service and in-service educators.
The position is available Spring Semester beginning .
The courses are taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels through UMES’s off-campus site location at the Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI) .
Courses are taught in online and hybrid formats usually from 5-8pm on weeknights. The individual selected will need to be approved by the UMES Graduate Council to teach graduate level courses.
Appointment to the position is made on a semester basis and is renewable. Responsibilities
Teaching a variety of courses as needed from our Master of Education in CTE degree program, or the undergraduate and graduate level courses leading to a state-required certification for new secondary teachers.
Courses are delivered using an online or hybrid format.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Classification 25- Education, Training, and Library Occupations Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or higher in a discipline closely related to the area of Instruction (Career and Technical Education, Technology Education, Educational Leadership, etc.).
- Experience working in a public school setting.
- Working knowledge of Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
- Candidate must be comfortable teaching courses through online management systems, and be willing to learn how to proficiently use Canvas and Google Meet.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of effective teaching experience at the undergraduate and / or graduate level.
- Knowledge of engaging strategies to teach students via webcam and distance learning tools is helpful.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Evidence of strong communication to include written communication, student focus, and excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty and staff in the Department and University and with students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
