The Associate Director of Corporate Affairs (CA) for Alzheimer's disease will play a crucial role in supporting both the development and implementation of international strategies to improve the detection, diagnosis, and care of Alzheimer's disease.

Through a comprehensive understanding of the diagnostic and care landscape, the candidate will closely collaborate with the International Business Unit (IBU) marketing and medical teams, Government Affairs, and International Communication teams to execute, in partnership with the local affiliate teams, integrated solutions designed to remove obstacles to optimal patient pathways.

The role also involves working closely with country Corporate Affairs leaders to ensure strategy alignment and flawless execution of plans.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, collaborative, and an effective communicator with skills in content creation, external engagement, and patient relations.

The candidate will report to the Executive Director for Global Corporate Affairs Alzheimer’s disease, with additional accountability to the International Therapy Area Leader.

Specific responsibilities include :

Environmental readiness :

  • Undertake analysis and assessment of the Alzheimer’s environment gaps and barriers to inform international corporate affairs (CA) plans.
  • Develop effective strategies to address these key barriers by identifying areas where current policies, research, and practices fall short.
  • Lead and / or support implementation of international environmental shaping programs, ensuring successful outcomes, a clear measurement plan, and effective communication with company leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Partnering with affiliate teams to ensure effective adoption of IBU strategies, promoting reuse and adaptation of international environment shaping programmes, to enable flawless local execution with clear measurement against KPIs.
  • Lead a regular programme of community calls for international colleagues, including operational and strategy updates and best practices to drive capabilities and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead mapping and co-ordination of a cohesive IBU environment shaping action plan, working in partnership with International Communications, Government Affairs, and additional cross-functional teams, to ensure strategic alignment, identify opportunities and risks, and ensure effective stakeholder management.

Policy and Advocacy :

  • Execute plans to impact payors, policy and political stakeholders regarding diagnostic and therapeutic access in Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Work closely with Executive Director CA Alzheimer’s disease to develop compelling content for key policy stakeholders and execute integrated action plans in partnership with International Communicators and Governmental Affairs.
  • Collaborate in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with Alzheimer's stakeholders, including policymakers and advocates.
  • Contribute to enhance the Lilly presence at advocacy group-led conferences including message delivery and collaterals strategy.
  • Manage the Alzheimer's disease social media plan working closely with LillyNeuroscience.com and LillyEU.

Operation and Execution

  • This role requires full understanding, appreciation, and adherence to the highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, including but not limited to current international regulations, laws, guidance, codes of practice, Lilly policies, standards and other corporate legal obligations.
  • Ensure all activities and projects are compliant with internal procedures and both International and National Codes of Practice.
  • Internal stakeholder and owned project coordination to achieve set objectives to time and to budget.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master degree
  • Demonstrable senior experience of leading design and delivery of multi-country environmental programs and external engagement (eg previous experiences in or working with non-for-profit, policy consultancy, other CA roles etc.)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing external / stakeholder relationships.
  • Individual with the ability to think strategically and create content designed to educate policymakers and advocacy groups.

  • Successful experience working with cross-functional teams, including collaboration and consensus building.
  • Experience of working across countries and regions, with ability to adapt to cultural preferences.
  • Proven issue management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with business partners.
  • Experience of managing projects to time, outcomes and budget.
  • Ability to flex between strategic thinking and detailed delivery based on circumstances and business needs.
  • Strong communications skills written and verbal, as well as interpersonal.
  • Ability to understand the business need.
