World Relief seeks a Housing Coordinator who will support the initial and extended resettlement program participants at World Relief Wisconsin with finding and securing sustainable housing as they progress toward self-sufficiency.

By securing safe, sanitary and affordable housing, the Housing Coordinator will empower newcomers, satisfying the program requirements and World Relief's Mission, Vision and Values and policies.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Collaborate with caseworkers and resource staff to ensure quality and timely housing needs are met, such as set-ups and move-ins
  • Be the main contact person for and participate in meetings with housing related teams and working groups from the National Office
  • Communicate with case managers to determine appropriate housing for new families, do housing inspections, cleaning and repair reports, and submit deposit and first month rent requests
  • Support caseworkers with lease signing appointments, ensuring clients understand the lease with appropriate language, and uploading leases into the CRM
  • Support Case Managers with occasional home orientations and home visits after the move in
  • When housing is secured, case note thoroughly : Address, landlord name and contact info, date and amounts paid, next amount to be paid, SVHC completed or not
  • Share reports and updates with relevant staff through weekly meetings and mid-week emails or arrivals board regarding housing plan
  • Collaborate with case workers on additional support services such as applications for rental assistance, low-income housing, and section 8
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with current landlords while developing a housing portfolio in preparation for future arrivals and housing needs
  • Conduct outreach to potential new landlords
  • Secure permanent housing for new arrivals and longer-term vulnerable clients. If permanent housing is unavailable, secure temporary housing until a permanent location can be found
  • Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords and property managers when maintenance issues persist
  • Collaboration with the Resource Coordinator, implement donation procedures and processes for accepting donations
  • Represent World Relief on housing and related committee or meeting groups
  • Educate the housing community and partners about World Relief and refugee programs
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and other designated meetings
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • A desire to serve refugees and immigrants in support of the mission of World Relief
  • Ability to professionally represent World Relief to landlords, property managers and community organizations
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Adaptable to frequently changing work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings
  • Good oral and written English communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills

Requirements

  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and / or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast-paced and fluid environment
  • Current driver's license and maintain a good driving record, and ability to pass motor vehicle record check
  • Ability to drive a 20-foot rental truck for move-ins
  • Knowledge of basic furniture assembly and use of power tools, preferred
  • Ability to lift heavy furniture, between 70-80 pounds (May need to occasionally assist team with lifting heavy furniture)

$21 - $23 an hour

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.

The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.

Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.

Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
