Position Summary :

The Nursing Instructor and Tutor will provide individual and group support to students to facilitate their success in nursing courses.

The Nursing Instructor and Tutor develops, organizes, and implements learning strategies for students enrolled in the pre-licensure BSN program tracks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with Student Success Team to identify students requiring tutoring and to develop and implement individualized action plans based on student learning needs.
• Meet with students individually and in small groups to reinforce and assist students with understanding course content.
• Develop content-related tutoring materials in collaboration with course faculty that utilize various teaching strategies.
• Adapt tutoring methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and abilities.
• Motivate and support students.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and participation in tutoring.
• Maintain student confidentiality.
• Refer students to University resources as needed.
• Maintain professional competence and participate in professional development activities.
• Maintain an established work schedule which may include days or evenings and possible multicampus locations.
• Teach courses when required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

Required Qualifications :

• Minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree
• Minimum of 1 year of tutoring or teaching experience
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience
• Current Florida RN license or eligibility
• Knowledge of educational principles and techniques used in classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings
• Skills in using learning management systems
• Excellent written communication skills
• The ability to communicate effectively with learners of diverse backgrounds.
• The ability to effectively assist and assess student learning.
• Willingness to work as a team member with staff, faculty, and students.
• Excellent organizational skills, professional conduct, and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Medical surgical / telemetry experience
• MSN concentration in nursing education and / or certification as a nurse educator (CNE).
