Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive : A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; or 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
Two years of professional experience in information technology.
Transfer : Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18;
OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The Information Technology Specialist 2 position will serve within the NYS ITS Chief General Counsel Bureau.
The incumbent will support?over fifty (50)?NYS Executive Agency legal departments with email data collection?eDiscovery?
support needs.?The EES team supports state entities in carrying out legal preservation, collection,?review,?and production obligations in a defensible and efficient manner.
Specific duties include, but not limited to :
- Coordinate eDiscovery support sessions with agency counsel.
- Triage first level technical support calls relating to Office 365 eDiscovery Centers.
- Document the basic level techniques provided to Compliance Officers.
- Handle first level technical support calls with Microsoft Premier Support (MSFT).
- Perform record keeping and communicate legal hold Compliance Officer designations by maintaining documentation, communication distribution lists, and case tracking.
- Write VB, VBA, .Net, or Powershell code to normalizing names from user friendly names to computer specific names.
- Write code to help identify instances where a MEHA mailbox has a display name that is not in the proper form.
- Perform eDiscovery Center experiments by :
- Creating Sample sets
- Document hypothesis, test conditions, test results, and summary information,
- Add information into a knowledge base for retrieval when requested.
- Automate additional manual processes by writing or improving PowerShell, SharePoint, and / or .Net code.??
- Write code to format weekly CSV files into reports.
- Write Scripts to identify duplicate email accounts based on CSV input.
- Write code to validate Archive email migration validation reports.
- Write code to organize Archive email migration data into valid batch file loads.
- Migrate litigation hold email accounts.
- Write code to help improve the workflow of the unit by adding to the email template library and taking the data points that are part of the emails and adding them to a database.
- Assist with research on agency software and hardware needs.
