The anticipated salary range for this role is between $73,000.00and $93,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire.
The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

JOB SUMMARY :
The software engineer will focus on making a positive impact on the people we work with - our clients, our coworkers, and our community.
The core platform engineering team leads organization through digital transformation, process automation, and integration to improve efficiency and solve complex business problems.
The software engineer partners with the business, IT teams and external partners. As a collective team, they discover, design, develop, and deploy solutions through digital transformation, automation, and integration.
The role offers a challenging environment with an exposure to work with multiple technical teams and vendors, utilizing several technologies and supporting high visibility applications.
The job offers opportunities to work on analyzing complex system issues and working with vendors in a banking environment.
The role requires strong interpersonal skills, high competency, and ability to quickly adapt to a continually changing environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Work with business and cross-functional teams to gather and document requirements to meet business needs.
- Provide technical assistance and cross training to business and internal team members.
- Collaborate with business partners for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Identify exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.
- Develop and maintain automated builds and container orchestration for distributed systems to improve delivery speed
- Seek out and identify areas for improvement for the team and technology
- Analyze application performance in a variety of environments, design and implement optimizations
- Exposure to with API Management tools
- Maintains technical skill set for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities and networks needed to support work assignments.
- Perform deep-dive analysis to understand and solve integration needs between data sources and applications
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS :
Experience :
- 2+ years of experience as a Software Engineer / Developer
- 2+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 2+ years ' experience of Microservices frameworks using Java, Python, or C#.
- 2+ years' experience with software engineering best practices (unit testing, automation, design patterns, peer review, etc.)
- 2+ years' experience of Data Structures and Object Oriented Principles using Java, Python, or NodeJS
- 2+ years' software development life cycle experience
Skills / Qualifications :
- Proficient in multiple languages and technology stacks
- Previous experience ofsoftware development teams using Agile methodologies
- Comfortable and able to communicate directly with the client acting as a technical consultant
- Ability to collaboratively explore multiple alternatives while problem solving, striking a balance between effort, complexity and business value
- NET, C#, ASP.NET (MVC, Web API), JavaScript, Angular, MSSQL, iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), git, Chromium, Http, REST, docker, GoCD, Google Pay, Apple Pay
- Experience with API's, Web Services, REST, SOAP - is a plus
- Scrum or other agile experience is a plus
